Most of the LMVSC travel basketball teams began regular season play during the weekend of December 1st. Prior to the start of the regular season, both of our 8th grade boys teams played in pre-season tournaments.
Our 8th Grade Boys Red Team participated in the BRYC Thanksgiving Tournament, during which they advanced to the semi-final after going 4-0 in pool play. Although the team lost their semi-final game to SYA, Coach Hoskins was proud of their effort and felt that the team had executed the fundamentals required for a successful season, which was evidenced by the team’s win in their regular season opener over Gainesville, 55-46.
The Boys 8th Grade White Team participated in Coach Wootten’s Fall Basketball Classic, competing against high level teams throughout the Northern Virginia. Although the team did not do as well as it hoped, the boys learned a lot and are now better prepared for the regular season.
An update on our travel teams is as follows:
- 8th Grade Boys Red. The 8th Grade Boys Red team has started off with a 3-0 record. They will face CYA on Sunday at 215p at Mt. Vernon H.S. in Alexandria.
- 8th Grade Boys White. The 8th Grade Boys White team is 2-1 thus far. The team has two games this weekend. On Saturday at 230p, they face Baileys at the Bailey’s Community Center in Falls Church, while on Sunday at 12n, they face South Loudoun at Annandale H.S. Gym #2.
- 8th Grade Girls. The 8th Grade Girls Team has also started their season undefeated at 2-0. Their next game is on Sunday at 230p at Edison HS in the Main Gym, when they face McLean.
- 7th Grade Boys Red. The 7th Grade Red Team has opened up 2-1. On Sunday at 12n in Edison’s Main Gym, they take on Annandale.
- 7th Grade Boys White. The 7th Grade White Team has started off undefeated at 2-0. On Sunday at 345p, the team takes on Falls Church at Edison in the Main Gym.
- 7th Grade Boys Blue. The 7th Grade Blue Team is 1-1 and takes on CYA on Sunday at 12n at Edison’s Auxiliary Gym.
- 6th Grade Boys Team. The 6th Grade Team is 2-0 and has two games this weekend. On Saturday, they face CYA at 430p at Hayfield SS, while on Sunday they face Arlington at 115p at HB Woodlawn.
- 5th Grade Girls Team. The 5th Grade Team is 1-1 in pool play and has a game on Saturday at 1130a against South Loudoun at Jackson MS in Falls Church.
