LMVSC is hosting a referee class on July 30 in an effort to increase our pool of referees for both travel and recreational matches.  If this date doesn’t work for you, don’t worry as there are numerous other on-field clinics in the local area and that number should increase as schedules get set with the start of the new referee training year.

To qualify for becoming a referee, you must be at least 13 years old.  The process to become a certified referee consists of an online module followed by an on-field exercise.

First, you must register with the state referee program and complete the online modules.  Once you have completed all the online modules you can transfer into a 4 hour on-field training clinic.

Upon completion of both the online modules and the on-field clinic, you will receive a 2023 referee badge and be eligible to referee or assistant referee recreational and travel games until December 2023 (at which time you will need to either recertify or upgrade).

The cost of the class is $85.00.  Most games pay at least $25/game so you can earn your money back in about 3 games.  And you have 3 seasons (Fall 2022/Spring 2023/Fall 2023) to earn money before you have to recertify!

Your local clubs need your help so get registered right away!

You can see a visual representation of the process to become a referee at the link here – they have not updated the dates for 2023 yet so ignore them: https://www.vadcsoccerref.com/become-a-referee

To get started as a new referee go to https://vadcsoccerref.com/instruction/path-1 and follow the steps.  These steps are laid out very clearly and having them as a reference can answer many questions you might have along the registration and course path.  Please note each new referee must have their own email address which can not already be in use in the referee database.  It is possible to also have a parent’s email added to the new referee profile.

Once the online sessions are complete, you will need to sign up for the field training.  LMVSC has on on-field clinic at Lee District Park on Saturday July 30 from 4pm-8pm but you may complete the on-field clinic at any of the options listed.

But you must finish your online portion first before you can sign up for the on-field session you would like to attend.
