Summer Recreational Basketball

*The health and safety of our participants is a our top priority.  LMVSC Summer Rec Basketball is currently scheduled to proceed as planned.* 

We are accepting registrations with no payment required until June 24th.  Additionally, we will provide you with an option for paying the summer registration fee in two installments, with the first payment on June 24th and the second payment on July 24th.

 

LMVSC Recreational Basketball focuses on providing players with the opportunity to develop their basketball skills in a friendly, competitive environment.  In accordance with that goal, teams are created generally based upon where players live, go to school, or have developed other community ties.  Our focus is on individual development and the enjoyment of the game, rather than winning. We believe it is important for our players, parents and coaches to embrace this philosophy as it is an important foundation of LMVSC.

In the summer, there may be an initial practice if space is available.  Other than that, summer league is games-only.  Games are played on weekdays, primarily on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays, although there may be limited games on Mondays and Fridays.

IMPORTANT DATES:

•  Registration closes: June 23rd
• Cost of registration: $90, plus Fairfax County gym fees ($5.50 for in-county; $35.50 for out-of-county)
• Coaches meeting: TBD
• Games start: July 1st
• Games will take place on weeknights M-F at nearby gyms.

The season will run from July 1st through August 12th.  Games will take place from Monday through Friday evenings.

SCHOLARSHIPS:

Scholarships are available on request to players that qualify for Fairfax County Free or Reduced-price school lunches and or on Medicaid. More than one child shall pay $10.00 plus $5.50 In-County Fees ($35.50 Out-of-County Fees) per additional child per family.

The COVID-19 pandemic has negatively affected our families on many levels. Our priority is to provide a safe environment following Governor Northam’s executive order and do everything possible to move towards a sense of normalcy for our kids. If the COVID-19 has impacted your player’s ability to play basketball this summer, please indicate on the payment page that you are paying by check. You must then contact LMVSC’s Club Administrator & Finance Manager, Jessie Gore at admin@lmvsc.org to request a fee reduction. Jessie will discuss with you what additional information may require to document your family’s need.

FAMILY FEE MAXIMUM:

A family fee maximum of $300 for all registrations done at the same time. The $300 does not include the $5.50 per player County Application fee.

Please note that the LVMSC Recreational Basketball “Family Max” does NOT apply to the LMVSC Instructional Developmental Programs, including Mini-Dribblers or any other Developmental Academy, as well as the Travel Program.

REFUNDS:

Refunds are provided only if your child could not be placed on a team. If your child is injured or is suffering from a long-term illness prior to the beginning of the season, please contact LMVSC’s Executive Director, Lula Bauer, at director@lmvsc.org for any questions regarding refunds.

Practice Days/Time/Location: Subject to available gym space, practices will be held during the first week or so of the season at local school gyms.

Games: Held on weeknights at various local schools.

Cancellations for inclement weather will be made when Fairfax County Public Schools close for the entire day or early due to weather.  If schools are closed on Friday, weekend use will not be automatically cancelled.  A decision concerning these activities will be made by 7:00 AM on Saturday and 7:00 AM on Sunday or as soon as possible if hazardous conditions develop.  Decisions will be broadcast on local television and radio stations.  FCPS Channel 21 on Fairfax County cable systems and the CRS Weather Line (703-324-5264).
