Rec Soccer Overview

The Lee Mt. Vernon Sports Club (LMVSC) Recreational Soccer program focuses on individual technical development through a team-based learning environment.  All of the LMVSC volunteer Coaches have been certified to educate players on a fundamental level.  The main objective for every Coach and Player is to put the love of the game before the results.

The Recreation program includes the following programs:

  • U4 (Pre-K) – Mini Kickers Academy – Instructional based program with technical development through game-like activities
  • E Division (Kindergarten) – first introduction into games; 4v4 without a goal keeper
  • D1 Division (1st Grade) – games formatted into 5v5 without a goal keeper
  • D2 Division (2nd Grade) – games formatted into 6v6 with a goal keeper
  • C3 Division (3rd Grade) – games formatted into 8v8 with a goal keeper
  • C4 Division (4th Grade) – games formatted into 8v8 with a goal keeper
  • B5 Division (5th Grade) – games formatted into 9v9 with a goal keeper
  • B6 Division (6th Grade) – games formatted into 9v9 with a goal keeper
  • A Division (7th/8th Grade) – games formatted into 11v11 with a goal keeper
  • AA & AAA Division (High School) – games formatted into 11v11 with a goal keeper

Rec Soccer Divisions

Mini Kickers Academy

Players MUST be 4 years old as of the first scheduled session. Mini Kickers Academy will meet Saturday mornings. The program is a developmental program for players 4 years of age. The program introduces 4 year olds to soccer related fundamental skills, which takes into consideration specific motor skill development in a noncompetitive environment.

E Division -Kindergarten

Kindergarten players MUST be 5 as of the first scheduled game OR players must have graduated from one session of the Mini Kickers. Teams have coaches and are limited to eight players; play six games, 4-vs.-4; have one practice a week and SIX games.  The E Division format will consist of 4 v 4 without a goal keeper.  If there is a special coach you would like to play for, be sure to register early and to enter that Coach’s name in the “special request” box.

D1 Division 1st Graders

1st grade teams will have 10 players on the roster; play SIX games, 5 vs 5; have one practice a week. The D Division 1st graders format will consist of 5 v 5 without a goal keeper. If there is a special coach you would like to play for, be sure to register early and to enter that Coach’s name in the “special request” box.

D2 Division 2nd Graders

2nd grade teams will have 10 players on the roster; play SEVEN games, 6 V 6; have one practice a week. The D Division 2nd graders format will consist of 6 v 6 with a goal keeper. A Divisions 7th and 8th Graders

AA and AAA Divisions High School Age Group

High school grade teams are limited to 20 players; play NINE games through the Suburban Friendship League. If there is a special coach you would like to play for, be sure to register early and to enter that Coach’s name in the “special request” box.

NOTE: Teams are formed on first-come, first-served basis, so please register early! There will be no refund unless your child cannot be placed on a team. Practice days are based on your child’s volunteer Coach’s practice day selection. Special requests are not guaranteed to be honored.

Important Information

Family Fee Maximum:

A family fee maximum of $200 for all registrations done at the same time. The $200 does not include the $8.00 per player in-county application fee ($38.00 out-of-county application fee).

Please note that the LVMSC Recreational Soccer “Family Max” does NOT apply to the LMVSC Instructional Developmental Programs: Soccer Tots Academy, Mini Kickers Academy, Pre Developmental Academy, Junior Developmental Academy, or the Patriots Developmental Academy, as well as the Travel Program.

Important Dates:

After you have registered, you will hear from your child’s coach after the listed scheduled coach’s meeting. Please make a note of the following dates.

  • Monday, March 12, 2018 – D2, C, B, A/AA/AAA Coach’s Meeting
  • Tuesday, March 13, 2018 – D1 and E Coach’s Meeting
  • Saturday, April 7, 2018 – 1st game of the season- 1st Mini Kickers Session

Financial Aid

Scholarships are available on request to players that qualify for Fairfax County Free or Reduced-price school lunches and or on Medicaid, shall pay a reduced registration fee of:

Season Durations

E Division – Six Games (six weeks)

D1 Division – Six Games (six weeks)

D2 Division –  Seven Games (seven weeks)

C – A Divisions – Eight Games (eight weeks)

AA/AAA Divisions – Nine Games (nine weeks)

Practice Days/Time/Location: Contigent on where the coach requests and gets approval to hold practices

Matches: Will be held on the weekends at various locations
