Travel Basketball Tryout Information
Travel Tryouts for the 2019-20 Winter season are complete and rosters are set.ย If you’d like more information, or to know more about next season, you can contact Annemarie McGavin at mcgavindob@lmvsc.org.
Theย LMVSC Travel Basketball Programย is a program for players looking to improve their basketball skills in a competitive environment. LMVSC offers numerous avenues for players to develop and showcase their talents.

Travel tryouts for the Winter Season 2019-20 are complete.
Who is Eligible to Try Out?
Grade Requirement
Each winter season, LMVSC sponsors boys and girls teams to participate in the Fairfax County Youth Basketball League (FCYBL).ย FCYBL runs boys divisions andย girls divisions for grade-based teams.ย For 2019-20, we will be sponsoring teams in the following divisions:
- Boys in 8th Grade.
- Boys and Girls in 5th through 7th Grade.
Players can try out for multiple teams within LMVSC, however they are only eligible to play on teams that correspond to their grade or higher.ย For example, 5th and 6th grade boys can try out for the 6th, 7th and 8th grade teams.ย 7th grade boys can try out for the 7th and 8th grade boys teams.ย 8th graders can try out only for 8th grade teams.
If your player makes a team, you will be required to provide a copy of your player’s report card from an approved public or private school.ย Players enrolled in FCPS can instead provide a copy of the player’s SIS page.ย Special verification requirements apply to home-schooled players.
Age Requirement
- No player on any 5th grade team can be 12 years old on September 1st of that year.
- No player on any 6th grade team can be 13 years oldย on September 1st of that year.
- No player on any 7th grade team can be 14 years oldย on September 1st of that year.
- No player on any 8th grade team can be 15 years old on September 1st of that year.
Your player may be required to submit proof of age.
Residency Requirement
All players must be residents of Fairfax County, although some exceptions exist for players who reside in the City of Alexandria.
