Congratulations to Arianna Jones of the LMVSC Patriots 2010 Boys Red, our LMVSC Travel Player of the Week.

Arianna was recently invited from the 2010 Girls Red to play with 2010 Boys Red.  In her debut tournament with the boys’ team, she put on a tremendous display of skill, determination, and leadership.

In the first match on a sunny, Saturday morning against Philadelphia-based team, Fishtown AC, Arianna scored what proved to be the game-winner in a tough 2-1 contest.  The first goal of the match was scored on well-executed side volley on the half-turn by her teammate Sam Mitchell.  The second goal came to Arianna from a thru-ball from teammate Connor Bosley.  Arianna received the ball on the left flank, cut inside, and then drove the ball into the far post of the net.  Fishtown AC would score later to make the game 2-1.

In the second match against Pittsburgh-based team, Pittsburgh Riverhounds Pre-Developmental Academy, Arianna led her team with a hattrick in an emphatic 8-3 victory.

Arianna’s first goal of the match was near identical to the goal in the first game.  Her second goal showed her 1v1 dribbling abilities, throwing a stepover across the ball to beat her opponent, to then drive into the box and slot the ball in the net.  The third goal was sublime.  She beats the defender on the left flank and then curls the ball from about 20 yards away from goal just inside the far post. The shot had power, placement, and finesse.

According to Coach Lee Chang, “Arianna is very determined to succeed, and improve herself each day as a soccer player.  She is eager to learn, and I enjoy watching the ways she tries to implement the concepts from training into her game.”
