LMVSC – September 18, 2023: Tom Fitzpatrick Joins Leadership Team as Director of Basketball
The Lee Mount Vernon Sports Club (LMVSC) is excited to announce Tom Fitzpatrick as the new Director of Basketball, starting September 17, 2023. He will be responsible for developing and implementing methods to promote program growth, safety, member satisfaction, and member retention through program participation and facility excellence. His role will be vital in providing the leadership, vision, and philosophy for the LMVSC Basketball program.
Tom Fitzpatrick had the following to say on accepting his new role with LMVSC, “I am excited to join LMVSC as the new Director of Basketball. Basketball has been a life-long passion, and often a tool for connecting with my students. Much of my free time the past 5 years has been spent at youth basketball games throughout the DMV, serving as a coach, official scorer, team manager, and league commissioner. This position perfectly couples my passions and experiences. I have devotedly served students and families in this area for over 20 years as a teacher, school administrator, coach, and volunteer. In my schools I would often be found shooting baskets with students throughout the day. What most attracted me to this position was LMVSC’s history of commitment and service to young people and families in our diverse community. I look forward to serving all members of LMVSC and continuing our collaborative efforts that positively impact the lives of our young people.”
Fitzpatrick currently holds a USA Basketball Gold Coach License and is a graduate of George Mason University. He has served FCPS as a mentor, teacher, Assistant Principal, and Principal and is a recent recipient of the FCPS Superintendent’s Excellence in Equity Award.
According to LMVSC’s Club Executive Director, Lula Bauer, “Tom is well respected in the Public School system, is a knowledgeable Basketball Coach, and has a high administrative skill set. It is a perfect combination for this position. I am very excited to have Tom join the LMVSC family.”
